Privacy Policy Your privacy has always been, and always will be, one of our most important concerns. We strive to protect your personal information according to not only Federal and state laws, but even more importantly, according to BC National Banks’ stricter standards. We define personal information as any and all of the information specific to you, whether you provide it over the phone, at our branches, through our ATMs or online. This includes personal data as varied as the information you enter into an online application for a new account, questions you ask via e-mail or personal banking data. Some of the key measures taken by us to protect your information are outlined below. If you have any questions, issues, or would like to request a copy of our Privacy Policy please contact us at 1-660-679-6191 or bcnb@bcnationalbanks.com. COLLECTION AND USE – BC National Banks collects nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources: 1) Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, including e-mails; 2) Information about your transactions with us or others; and 3) Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency. All financial institutions may need to share customers’ personal information to properly run their everyday business – to process transactions, maintain customer accounts, and report to credit bureaus. BC National Banks does not share nonpublic personal information with anyone, except to other nonaffiliated third parties, as permitted by law. On occasion, laws and regulations may require us to provide information about you and your transactions to government agencies or regulators. In addition, Federal and state laws give people involved in lawsuits or other legal proceedings the right to obtain records and information from us. We share only the information that we are required or authorized to share by law. ACCURACY – We strive to ensure that the information concerning you is accurate in all aspects. If we become aware of inaccuracies in our records, we will take prompt steps to make appropriate corrections. EMPLOYEE ACCESS – We will allow only employees actively engaged in their assigned duties, as authorized by BC National Banks, to have access to or use your information. Our employees are governed by a code of conduct that includes the responsibility to protect the confidentiality of each customer’s personal information. THIRD PARTIES – We will share customer information with companies outside the BC National Banks organization that have been hired by us to provide operational support, products and services. These companies are not permitted to use your information for anything beyond the intended service and will be allowed access to your information only if they agree to treat it confidentially. Also, we will exchange information about our customers with reputable information reporting agencies, financial institutions, and merchants, in accordance with standard banking industry practice, so we can verify the existence and condition of customers’ accounts. INFORMATION SECURITY – We safeguard information according to established security standards and procedures, and we continually assess new technology for protecting information. Our employees are trained to understand and comply with these information principles. INTERNET PRIVACY –As a visitor to our Web site, you need not be concerned about the privacy of your personal information. Our site does not require you to disclose any personally identifying information. If, however, you choose to contact us via e-mail, please keep in mind that your e-mail address, and any other information your e-mail header shows about you, such as your name or organization, will be revealed to us in the e-mail. When you communicate with us, we will use your e-mail information only for the specific purpose of responding to your comments or questions. Your e-mail address will not be sold, nor will it be shared with others outside the bank unless we are compelled to do so by law.
BC National Banks is committed to keeping your information private and secure. However, you can play an important role in helping us maintain this security by following these simple guidelines:
If you feel your Password has been compromised, let us know immediately by calling 660-679-6191 or 816-554-0210. Do not send us this information via e-mail. To assure the best security possible, there are three areas to protect: BC National Banks systems, transmission of data, and your computer. The Bank’s systems are protected first by “firewalls” set up between the Internet and us. Firewalls are the “traffic cops” of network security. All messages in and out must pass through them, and they allow only certain types of messages to be sent to the other side. So, only messages that are legitimate BC National Banks online messages can be sent to our system. All other requests are refused before they can ever reach sensitive data on our systems. And those systems are also protected using industry-standard security methods. Second, we monitor our systems to detect any attempted intrusions and ensure that all of the protections in place are functioning correctly. Finally, we work to remain up-to-date about security system advances and potential risks.
To ensure a high level of security when accessing our Online Banking, BC National Banks requires the use of 128-bit SSL encryption. It ensures that communication between you and your Online Banking session cannot be translated by anyone without the correct “keys.” This level of security is available for both the two most popular browsers free of charge. This level of encryption is so strong that Federal regulations prevent it from being sent to any addresses outside the United States. Technically, using 128-bit encryption means that each time you log in to Online Banking, your computer is assigned a “key” made up of a string of 128 zeros and ones. All messages from your computer to your Online Banking session are then coded based on this “key”, but they can only be decoded using an equivalent 128-digit “key.” It’s important to note that each time you log in, a different “key” is assigned, so that anyone attempting to break through the encryption algorithm would have to start over from scratch every time you use Online Banking. To put it into perspective, a 128-bit key has 340,282,366,920,938,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 different possibilities. YOUR COMPUTER
